Colca Canyon
is one of the deepest places on the planet, reaching a depth of 3,400 meters (11,155 feet) at the lowest point in the location of Canco. On the right side, it is flanked by the Chila Cordillera (Bomboya, Serpregrina, Mismi, Queshihua) and on the other by Mount Hualca Hualca, Sabancaya, and Ampato. You can see Mount Ubinas and beautiful Mount Coropuna in the distance. Over this area, the erosion from the Colca River creates a canyon of about 70 Km. (43.5 miles) length, being the deepest of the world, 3000 meters (9,842 feet). Very beautiful landscapes with strong wind, over flight by condors which are the biggest birds in the world. In the mirador "Cruz del Condor" located among Maca and Cabanaconde's town (place of privileged view), is very common to see condors in majestic flight. This area possesses a great diversity of flora and fauna. Among the most representative species are the condor, the kestrel, the peregrine falcon, and the Andean tinamou. source: www.go2peru.com
